RUTH COOKE AYERS has been retired for 12 years, after teaching school for 35 years. She and her husband, Wendell, are co-owners of Brier Patch Jams in Corbett, Oregon. Ruth volunteers with the historic Vista House at Crown Point State Park on the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon, and with Larch Mountain Country Artisans to financially benefit the preservation of Vista House. Ruth and Wendell live in Corbett.
GERARD âJERRYâ COOK and his wife, BARBARA PAULSON COOK, are in their 49th year of ministry. They have authored eight books, including Jerryâs latest, Trusting God When You Have Cancer (Harvest House Publishers, 2009). The Cooks live in Greenbank, Washington.
JEANETTE DUNCAN DETLOR is a retired teacher. She and her husband, John, a former F.B.I. agent, enjoy travel and volunteer with Seattle Childrenâs Hospital, where they help raise funds with an annual golf tournament and through sales from Childrenâs Thrift Stores statewide. They are active in church and enjoy time with family, especially their three grandchildren. The Detlors reside in Redmond, Washington.
MARGARET âPEGGYâ ELDER retired in 2007. She has survived pancreatic cancer and says she is âfeeling pretty good.â She lives in Seattle.
EDITH FASTE says, âMy teaching certificate from °”ÍűTV served me well.â In 1977, she left the teaching profession and became a glass artist. She attended the famed Pilchuck Glass School for six summers and has created leaded windows in two churches and many homes. Her artistic repertoire also includes glass wall art. Edith lives in Edmonds, Washington.
JACOB âJACKâ GROSS is a retired teacher in the Edmonds (Washington) School District. He met his wife, ANNETTE UNGER GROSS â57, at °”ÍűTV. They have been married since 1959 and live in Edmonds.
JIM LANCASTER is officially retired from The Boeing Company but continues to be a consultant for them. His wife, SHARON GREEN LANCASTER, M.A. â67, is a retired teacher. The couple likes to travel and stay active in their church. This spring they visited ancient sites in Egypt. They live in Tustin, California.
MARILYN HEILIGER MCGINNIS teaches adult Bible study classes and also writes adult curricula for Faith Alive Resources and Smyth & Helwys Publishing Inc. She lives in Glendale, California.
MARILYN RICKER MEBERG has published 15 books, including her latest, Tell Me Everything, and is beginning her 15th year as a speaker for Women of Faith conferences coast to coast. The grandmother of two teenage boys, she lives in Frisco, Texas.
WILLIAM MOUREY, B.S. â66, enjoys ocean cruises, RV travel, and photography. He spends the winter in Yuma, Arizona, and the rest of the year in Newton, Kansas.
DORIS MAIER NOTTER and RUSSELL NOTTER â60 have spent their retirement in Christian service. Theyâve worked with SOWERS (Servants on Wheels Ever Ready) in many states, and have taken mission trips to Ecuador, Fiji, Puerto Rico, and Romania. The Notters make their home in Grants Pass, Oregon.
DENNIS RAE, a retired math teacher and coach, says he enjoys hunting and âputteringâ around. He and his wife, CONNIE SHOBERG RAE â79, have four children, including DALE RAE â83 and his wife, TAMMY STARK RAE â86, and JIMMY RAE â94 and his wife, MARCIE WALTMAN RAE â95. The Raes also have 16 grandchildren. Dennis and Connie live in Wenatchee, Washington, and have been married more than 50 years.
ROBERT ROCHELLE has completed several art classes and reports that he is âunable to keep up (with) the demand for my work.â His wife, JAN HOOGE ROCHELLE â62, is deceased. Robert lives in Banning, California.
DARLENE HICKS ROGERS is a spiritual care volunteer at Meritcare Hospital and a Hospice Pathways volunteer. She and her husband, David, have been married 45 years and live in Fargo, North Dakota. They have one son.
DONNA REMPEL SCHMOLLINGER works part time, is active in church, and enjoys her daily walk at the YMCA. Her husband, James, is retired after 36 years in natural resources conservation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The Schmollingers live in Caldwell, Idaho.
RUTH WARNER STAMPER is retired from teaching in Aberdeen, Washington. She and her husband, Spencer, live in Cosmopolis, Washington.
MARTHA MORROW WILSON and her husband, Don, have been retired from the mission field 10 years (Laos and Thailand). They enjoy involvement with their home church in West Seattle, and have two children, including ESTHER WILSON BUTLER â98, and two grandchildren. The Wilsons reside in Seattle.

SYLVIA ROTH CARDWELL, M.ED. â73, is a retired public school teacher and librarian. She lives in Corvallis, Oregon.
VIKI SCHRADER DRAPER retired in 2007 from Centralia (Washington) College where she was a program manager for a family literacy program and an instructor of adult basic education and life skills. Sheâs a middle school volunteer, has a âlittle sisterâ in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, has served on the local school board for more than 23 years, and is a member of the board of Reliable Enterprises, which oversee the HeadStart program in Lewis County (Washington). Her husband, DAVID DRAPER â64, is a retired Superior Court judge. Together, they enjoy travel, including a tour to China and hiking in Switzerland, and spending time with their four grandchildren. Viki says âlife is good in the woods of a beautiful valleyâ near Rochester, Washington, their home base.
DENNIS LAGER is retired from 30 years with the Washington state Department of Social and Health Services, Division of Developmental Disabilities, where he worked as a psychologist, educational specialist, and Habilitation Program administrator. He and his wife, Betty, have two children, three grandsons, and report that âGod has been good to us.â The Lagers live in Port Orchard, Washington.
GAIL DAHL LOUDEN and her husband, Charles, have lived in the Port Orchard, Washington, community of McCormick Woods for 12 years. They are active in the ministry of Belfair Assembly of God.
NANCY MCCRACKEN MCWILLIAMS and her husband, Hud, are missionaries with Christian Associates International in Europe, where she teaches and he is a teacher and staff resource pastor. The couple has three children and makes their stateside home in Lakewood, Colorado.
CHERYL BECKER MINDELL is retired after 30 years as a physicianâs assistant. Sheâs enjoying family, especially her seven grandchildren, and a new home business. Cheryl lives in Coppell, Texas.
LINDA NORQUIST REEDER is a retired Highline School District (Seattle) teacher. She and her husband, THOMAS REEDER, M.A. â73, are avid gardeners, travelers, and Seattle Sounders FC soccer fans. They also enjoy visits with their two children and their grandchildren. The Reeders live in SeaTac, Washington.
PATRICIA MARCHEWKA TURANSKI and her husband, RICHARD TURANSKI â65, are co-owners of GloryBee Foods Inc., manufacturers and distributors of honey products and other natural sweeteners, such as molasses, and a line of related products that include spices, nuts, dried fruits, and soap. Their three children, including ALAN TURANSKI â99, participate in the business. The company mission statement says that the business is built on a foundation âconsisting of a belief in God and educating people about healthy living.â Patricia and Richard live in Eugene, Oregon.
GERALD âJERRYâ ULSUND is a retired store manager, formerly with J.C. Penney Company. His wife, Sandi, is a retired educator. They enjoy travel and spending time with their two granddaughters. The Ulsunds, who attend Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo, Washington, live in Hansville, Washington.
FRANK VARRO is senior pastor of Westchase United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas, home to an international community of faith. Eighty percent of the churchâs members are of Asian and African-American ethnicity and the church website will soon be available in English, Mandarin, and Vietnamese. Frank, who also has a private professional counseling practice, is married to MARGARET âMARGOâ MOORE VARRO â67. They have three married children, five grandchildren, and live in Houston.
KATHLEEN HOFF WILLSON, the 2004â05 °”ÍűTV College of Arts and Sciences âAdjunct Professor of the Year,â and her husband, JOHN WILLSON, M.ED. â68, a retired principal, enjoy travel, photography, and raising dahlias on Whidbey Island. They reside in Clinton, Washington.

ROGER BUSH, elected in 2004, is chairman of the Pierce County (Washington) Council. Prior to that, he served eight years in the Washington state legislature. His wife, CHERYL STEUERNAGEL BUSH, retired from the Puyallup (Washington) School District in 2009. They live in Tacoma, Washington.
CHRISTINE âCHRISâ EELLS COX is a retired kindergarten teacher who lives in Desert Aire, Washington, where she says she enjoys sunshine and golf with her husband, Ed. The couple spends their winters in Mesa, Arizona. Chris and Ed have three adult children and four grandchildren, all living in the Seattle area.
LOIS NYGREN CURRIE teaches second grade in Kellogg, Idaho, while husband PAUL CURRIE â72 is a principal in Pinehurst, Idaho. They have two children and two grandsons. The Curries reside in Pinehurst.
WALLY HACKETT retired from American Airlines in 2007, after a 33-year customer service and sales career with TWA and American Airlines. âIâm enjoying the freedom of retirement for travel, various projects, and church activities, and speaking,â he reports. Wally lives in Los Angeles.
JAY HOLLMANN received his masterâs degree in bioethics from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois, in May 2010. He enjoys teaching at Louisiana State University Medical School, and caring for the poor by treating their cardiac conditions. He and his wife, Charlotte, have also taken mission trips to Mongolia. They live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
CRAIG KORTHASE manages the Seattle trust office of U.S. Bank. His wife, KAREN SIGURDSON KORTHASE, says she enjoys working with young women to help them grow spiritually. The Korthases live in Lake Stevens, Washington.
MARGARET MACK NELSON and her husband, JAMES âJIMâ NELSON, continue to serve with Free Methodist World Missions as missionaries to Asia. They do most of their work by email and Skype, with one or two trips to Asia each year. This allows them to reside in the U.S. with Margaretâs 88-year-old father. The Nelsons live in Scotts Valley, California.
PENNY WILLIAMS PIETILA and her family â husband, Gary, and youngest daughter, Hannah â plan to travel to °”ÍűTV twice in Spring 2011. The first trip will be to see the senior art show of their daughter, LAURIE PIETILA; the second trip will be to watch Laurie graduate. The Pietilas live in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.
LEE QUIRING is director of admission at St. Matthewâs Episcopal School in Pacific Palisades, California. He and his wife, KATHIE WINEGARDEN QUIRING â74, live in Marina del Rey, California.
DEBORAH WITTIG has taught at Wesley International School in Indonesia for more than 30 years. The school in Malang, East Java, serves international elementary and secondary students, and has a student body of about 100 students from 15 countries. Before that, Deborah taught at Indiaâs Woodstock School and the Christian Academy in Japan.

THOMAS DERPACK is president of Integrity Capital Consultants Corporation. He lives in Edmonds, Washington.
CHERYL BERG JOHNSON works as a âmed-pedsâ hospitalist (âmed-pedsâ is a combined internal medicine and pediatrics specialization). Cheryl lives with her husband, Richard, in Columbia, Tennessee.
SARAH GACKLE MANKE is a special education para-educator in the Pasco (Washington) School District. She has taken courses toward a masterâs degree in teaching special education. Also a co-facilitator for a DivorceCare support group, she attends Bethel Church in West Pasco, where she volunteers in outreach ministries to singles and broken families. Sarah resides in Pasco.
KRISTEN OWEN MEDLEN has worked for 30 years as a pediatric physical therapist in early intervention. She and her husband, Zane, have three adult children and are active at Trent Church of Christ in Dexter, Oregon. They live in nearby Lowell, Oregon.
PATRICE WEED SHEARER is a professional violinist, viola/violin instructor, and musician contractor. She is associate concertmaster and personnel manager of the Everett (Washington) Philharmonic Orchestra. Patrice and her husband, Don, have five children and reside in Sammamish, Washington.
DEBRA WALZ SMERAGLIO is a registered dental hygienist. She and her husband, George, a colonel with more than 30 years in the Air Force Reserve, have two sons and live in Milwaukie, Oregon.
LISA GULLEY CASSAR SNYDER, teaches piano and tutors children. She and her husband, Tim, who works for Hewlett-Packard EDS, have a son and live in Hartland, Michigan.
1981
LYNDA CHASE-THOMPSON married her high school sweetheart, Greg. She worked five years for the Azusa (California) Police Department and recently retired from the City of Rancho Cucamonga (California) after 19 years as a redevelopment analyst. The Thompsons have an adult son and live in Rancho Cucamonga.
CINDY DYMOND CORUM has been a recovery room nurse for 20 years at Providence Newberg Medical Center in Newberg, Oregon. She helped start a home fellowship of Messianic Christians and Jews and is a leader and teacher of Hebrew worship dance. A single mom of two teenage boys, Cindy lives in Newberg.
WENDY WEST HENNIG is a learning specialist with the Issaquah (Washington) School District. She and her husband, Paul, have been married 24 years and have two sons. They live in North Bend, Washington.
ANDREA GOODLUND HOEY is a family practice nurse practitioner at Columbia Valley Community Health Services in Wenatchee, Washington. She and her husband, Glenn, have two sons and live in Wenatchee.
DEBRA âDEBBIEâ GEORGE MACLURG and her husband, Paul, own and operate Thrive Community Fitness in Lacey, Washington. Debbie is also a substitute teacher. The couple has two children in college and lives in Lacey.
MIRIAM âMIMâ AMDAHL NEWMAN is a freelance artist and flute/piccolo player in the Marquette (Michigan) Symphony Orchestra. She and her husband, Rick, have been married 26 years and have three children, including a daughter who plays viola with the Minnesota Orchestra, a son who lives in Norway, and a daughter who studies viola, violin, and photography. The Newmans live in Skandia, Michigan.
LAURIE LEWIS RUSHING home-schooled her three children, which she says is âlots of work, but the fruit is worth it.â Her oldest child is married, her middle child is in college, and her youngest child is a high school senior. The Rushings live in Gardner, Kansas.
GREGORY STRAND, who graduated with a degree in engineering science, is vice president of aerospace structures engineering at Park Electrochemical Corporation. He is responsible for overseeing the engineering and marketing of the corporationâs composite aircraft and space vehicle parts. He and his wife, KATHERINE NICHOLS STRAND â80, live in Edmonds, Washington.
DOROTHY CARLSON VAN NESS has taught kindergarten at Bellevue (Washington) Christian School since 1998. She lives in Kirkland, Washington, with her husband, Larry, and their two sons, including °”ÍűTV sophomore ANDREW VAN NESS.

HEATHER BUCHER CANARY is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Utah. She and her husband, Dan, have two sons and split their time between Utah and Chandler, Arizona, their primary home.
ANN DEIBERT is co-pastor of the Central Presbyterian Church in Louisville, Kentucky. In her 15th year at the church, Ann is at work on a diploma in the art of spiritual direction through San Francisco Theological Seminary. Ann lives in Louisville.
LISA DRESS says she has been âworking in the mortgage industry as a caring mortgage broker since 1997.â She resides in Seattle.
PEGGY DICKSON PHILLIPS has three children and lives in Canby, Oregon.
ROBERT SCHAPER is a retired social worker who worked for 20 years with Washington stateâs Department of Social and Health Services. He now enjoys his hobby of flying weekly. His wife, CAROL KING SCHAPER â63, is a retired elementary school teacher and literacy coach/reading specialist. The couple lives in Seattle.
ALEXANDER (SASHA) SHEFTS is head coach for the womenâs soccer program of Bellevue (Washington) College. A former assistant for the Bellevue College menâs soccer program, he is also assistant coach for the Seattle Sounders womenâs team; director of coaching for LVR (Laurelhurst-View Ridge-Ravenna) Youth Soccer Club; and owner of Successful Soccer Systems, a company offering speed, agility, and quickness training in small group settings. Named Coach of the Year for 2007 by The Seattle Times, Alexander was a standout on the national champion °”ÍűTV menâs soccer team of 1983.

KAREN CAMP ALTUS is a career counselor in °”ÍűTVâs Center for Career and Calling, and council chair at Bethany Community Church in Seattle. She and her husband, SCOTT ALTUS â87, have been married 23 years and have two children, including °”ÍűTV sophomore KELSEY ALTUS. The Altus family lives in Seattle.
ERICA SCHWARTZ DODD has spent the past three years with the Lee County (Florida) School District as a self-care aide in the hearing impaired department. She and her husband, Kevin, have been married 19 years and have one daughter. They live in Cape Coral, Florida.
RUTH HARRISON EASTERLING is an ordained elder of the Free Methodist Church. She and her husband, Shane, have three daughters and reside in Des Moines, Washington.
KARL ERICKSON, a tax auditor for the state of Oregon, is the author of a new childrenâs book, Tristanâs Travels (Rafka Press, 2010). His wife, KIMBERLY COLLIER ERICKSON â89, is the illustrator. Karl, a founding member of the Catholic Writersâ Guild, has written for a variety of periodicals, including America and The National Catholic Weekly. Kimberly is skilled at water gilding, the ancient technique of gold leafing. Her father, John Collier, is the sculptor of the Catholic Memorial at Ground Zero in New York City. The Ericksons live in Salem, Oregon.
SHARON SCHNEIDER HENTO M.S.N. â05 is a family nurse practitioner and lives in Bremerton, Washington.
STEPHEN âSTEVEâ KELLER teaches social studies at Shamokin (Pennsylvania) Middle School. His wife, KATARINA LINDBERG KELLER â95, is an economics professor at Susquehanna University. They have two daughters and reside in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.
DAWN BRAMBLETT KRUGER worked 12 years for the U.S. Postal Service and currently works with the U.S. Forest Service. She and her husband, Robert, have a teenage son and daughter. The Krugers live in Clarkia, Idaho.
ALISA LAUBY ROEBKE is a substitute teacher and thankful to have survived cancer in 2008. She and her husband, Todd, and their two children live in Marysville, Washington.
KAREN HARRISON THOMPSON is a stay-at-home mom with five children, ages 3â14. She and her husband, DAVID THOMPSON â90, are also foster parents in Washington state. The Thompsons live in Veradale, Washington.
SARAH THOMSON is earning a masterâs degree in student development administration at Seattle University. She recently spent 12 years at LâArche Tahoma Hope Community in Tacoma, Washington, where she was a community coordinator. Hope Community is a place where people with and without developmental disabilities share life in community. Sarah lives in Tacoma.
LORIEN ELLENWOOD TREPUS works at the corporate office of Costco. She and her husband, Mark, were married in July 2009. They live in Issaquah, Washington.
JONATHAN VOLZ is a dentist with a practice in Grandview, Washington. He and his wife, MARTA MARCHANT VOLZ â03 have two children and live in Grandview.
RACHEL LEMIEUX WHITE teaches second grade at Kingâs Elementary School in Shoreline, Washington. She and her husband, GREG WHITE â77, M.S. â83, have twin 11-year-old daughters. The White family has been on several short-term mission trips, including an annual visit to Esperanza on British Columbiaâs Vancouver Island, the site of Rachelâs 1989 SPRINT trip. Rachel and her family attend New Life Foursquare Church in Everett, Washington, and reside in Edmonds, Washington.
ALISON LINK ZURCHER is on staff in the marketing and communications department of Seattle Childrenâs Hospital. She and her husband, Dave, live in Bellevue, Washington.

ELIZABETH FORD BRACE teaches English as a second language to children and adults. She lives with her husband, Jack, and their two children, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
WILLIAM âWILLâ DAVIS manages True Bread Properties Inc., a debt-free real estate investment firm. Will and his family live in Damascus, Oregon.
ERICA OLMSTED GOETZ married her husband, Andrew, in 2004. The couple has two girls and resides in Sachse, Texas.
JENNIFER HOLSINGER is associate professor of sociology at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. In her book, Residential Patterns of Arab Americans: Race, Ethnicity, and Spatial Assimilation (LFB Scholarly Publishing, 2009), she explores why the Arab-American population as a whole has not reached parity with other ethnic groups who share similar immigrant histories. Jennifer lived in the Middle East as a child and did some of her undergraduate studies in Cairo, Egypt. Jennifer lives in Spokane.
KRISTIN ABBOTT HOVAGUIMIAN is the administrative assistant in the Office of the President at °”ÍűTV. Her husband, SERGE HOVAGUIMIAN, plans to graduate from °”ÍűTVâs Marriage and Family Therapy graduate program in June 2011. They have a 4-year-old daughter and live in Seattle.
K.C. KNIGHT and CINDY MOORE KNIGHT are certified as foster parents in Washington state. K.C. is the owner of Chelan Custom Homes, a home remodeling firm, and Cindy runs her own marketing business, Action Marketers. The Knights have two children of their own and live in Chelan, Washington.
DANA BROOKS KOUKOL is a full-time mom to her three children and lives in North Bend, Washington.
MAGGIE MONTGOMERY is a producer for the Microsoft website, MSN.com. She is active at Antioch Bible Church in Kirkland, Washington, and says she loves being an aunt to 13 nieces and nephews. Maggie resides in Seattle.
CYNTHIA âCINDYâ MANSFIELD THOMAS home-schools her three sons. She and her husband, Eric, moved to Orlando, Florida, after serving nine years in Kiev, Ukraine, with Great Commission Ministries.

SHARON THORP ANDERSON, a kindergarten teacher in the Edmonds (Washington) School District, is substitute teaching and caring for her two young daughters. The Anderson family lives in Bothell, Washington.
JOSHUA âJOSHâ BENEDICT is vice principal at Lutacaga Elementary School in Othello, Washington. After his degree in physical education from °”ÍűTV, Josh completed his masterâs degree and his administration credentials through City University. Prior to joining Lutacaga, Josh taught and worked at the elementary level in three schools, and he taught high school physical education for seven years. Josh lives with his wife, Jaime, and their two children in Moses Lake, Washington.
MARCIA BUTCHART says that after more than six decades, she has âa vocation that makes all the âdangers, trials, and snaresâ of my life make sense.â Marcia works as a hospice chaplain and bereavement coordinator for Amedisys Hospice of Omak, Washington. In addition, she is worship leader at Community Covenant Church in Twisp, Washington, where she makes her home.
WILLIAM âBILLâ BUTLER and ANDREA RAWLINS BUTLER have been married eight years and have two boys. The family resides in Long Beach, California.
JONATHAN HALL is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Swedenâs Uppsala University. His research explores the transnational dimensions of peace in post-war Bosnia-Herzegovina, including the politics of refugee diaspora and the impact of remittances on local attitudes toward reconciliation. Earlier in 2010, Jonathan was a visiting researcher at the Centre for the Study of Civil War and at the Peace Research Institute of Oslo, Norway. He lives with his wife and son in Uppsala.
HEATHER HILL, employed by the state of Washington, is an investigative social worker with Child Protective Services. She lives in Spokane, Washington.
ROMAN HILL simultaneously completed J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Michigan State University in 2010. He lives in Lake Forest, California.
KRISTIN GOETZ JONES, B.S.N. â05, M.S.N. â09, a recent graduate of °”ÍűTVâs nurse practitioner program, works in a hospital emergency room. Her husband, BRYAN JONES â00, is associate director of undergraduate admissions at °”ÍűTV. They have two children and live in Kent, Washington.

LISA BEIGHTLER LEMPERES lives with her husband, Aaron, and their 2-year-old daughter in Bellingham, Washington.
LAURA NIELSEN MORRISSEY and MAYSON MORRISSEY â99 lived for five years in Vienna, Austria, where she taught at and he was an administrator for the Vienna Christian School. Theyâve been back for two years and are raising four children. The Morrisseys reside in Covington, Washington.

CALIA BEOUGHER RODRĂQUEZ completed her masterâs degree in divinity at the Perkins School of Theology in December 2008 and is the associate pastor for student ministries and mission at First United Methodist Church of Bedford, Texas. She and her husband, Ricardo, and their daughter, live in Dallas, Texas.
STEVE VOLLMER is in his eighth year on staff with Young Life. He lives with his wife, JENNIFER GAGNON VOLLMER, and their three boys in Federal Way, Washington.

ROBERT BILLINGS M.S. is chief information officer for the Washington State Higher Education Coordinating Board. He lives with his wife, Noreen, in Shelton, Washington.

KARA BRADLEY ESTEP is a Peace Corps volunteer in Mongolia until August 2011. She and her husband, Mark, âstrive to help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans.â Kara does this as a community youth development volunteer with the Department for Children, and Mark does it as a community economic development volunteer for Mercy Corps.
HEATHER FAUTH FULTON and her husband, Nick, work for Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic, where they assist the underserved of the Yakima Valley (Washington) area. The Fultons are youth leaders in their church and reside in Yakima. A runner, Heather adds that she completed the Seattle Marathon in 2007.
