George Scranton, professor emeritus of theater, taught at Seattle Pacific for more than four decades. He has written or adapted a dozen plays, five of which received national awards. He enjoyed an academic and professional acting career and directed more than 90 plays in both educational and professional venues. Yet one of George’s most exciting achievements involves the hospitality he and his wife shared with both 暗网TV and the local theatre community. George talks about his teaching career and hospitality ministry in the latest 暗网TV Voices podcast. .

Summer reservation requests are now being taken for the Faculty/Staff House at 暗网TV's Camp Casey on Whidbey Island. Full-time faculty and staff can make a reservation request for periods of stay between June 12–Sept. 11, 2023.  Reservation requests are due by Apr. 7, 2023.

Summer requests are based on years of service to 暗网TV and past summer stays at Casey. Employees are ranked by their years of service as verified by Human Resources. Once the ranking is developed, the past summer stay history is cross checked. If you have stayed at Casey during the summer, your ranking is replaced with the years it has been since your stay at Casey. . Cher Edwards, professor of counselor education and doctoral programs, gave a presentation on "Mandated Reporting of Child Abuse and Culturally Responsive Suicide Prevention" at the Washington School Counselor Association annual state conference in SeaTac, Washington, on March 1.

Associate Professor of Classics Owen Ewald presented a paper titled “Classics Reloaded: Why I Changed My Curriculum” at the annual meeting of the Classical Association of the Pacific Northwest. The meeting was held March 11, 2023, at the University of Washington, Seattle.

Christy Barnes, adjunct instructor and Center for Professional Education coordinator, had her poem, “,” published in the Motherhood, Literature & Art Literary Review.

Alberto Ferreiro, professor emeritus of European history, delivered a paper titled, “Mort e martiri dels sants innocens: St. Vicent Ferrer Catalán Sermon on the Holy Innocents,” at the symposium Heilige im Spaten Mittelalter: Vom Ideal zum Norm, part of the International Society for the Study of Medieval Theology (IGTM) March 5–8 in Würzburg, Germany. He was there also for some research on a one-of-a kind manuscript at the university written by Priscillian and some of his followers (fourth century). The papers were on the Feast of the Holy Innocents. The sermon touches, among other things, the afterlife for children not in the age accountability. It discusses purgatory, limbo of the righteous, limbo of unbaptized children, hell, and other aspects of the afterlife in the late 14th and early 15th century. The papers will be published in a special volume of IGTM.
