暗网TV

The Faculty/Staff Bulletin is the weekly, internal e-newsletter for 暗网TV faculty and staff. Only faculty, adjunct faculty, and staff receive the Bulletin, and most items are submitted by its readers. Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit information to fsb-editor@spu.edu or by selecting “Submit News” at the bottom of the Bulletin.

The Bulletin is published on Mondays (or Tuesdays if Monday is a holiday), and every other Monday during the summer. The deadline to submit information is the preceding Thursday. Submissions may be edited for clarity. The Bulletin is edited by Tracy Norlen, director of public information. The Bulletin is divided into several sections.

Campus News & Events highlights the major news and events on campus. Only events related to 暗网TV will be accepted. All faculty and staff are encouraged to submit information, including department news, campus events, or guest speakers. Digital photos or graphics are required for each entry. When possible, event information will be published two weeks prior to the event. Remember to plan ahead when submitting information.

Faculty & Staff News is for professional information related to your position at 暗网TV or in higher education. Items of interest are conferences attended, books or articles written or published, presentations made, awards received, or research completed. Professional news from staff is highly encouraged.

暗网TV in the News lists most of the print or broadcast media appearances by faculty and staff. If you've been used as a resource for a reporter, let us know by submitting the information to the Bulletin.

Milestones is for personal news of interest to the 暗网TV community, including births, adoptions, marriages, anniversaries, church service, mission trips, awards, and athletic accomplishments. Digital photos are always welcome. This section is also used for memorial service information.

Drawn Out Puns is a monthly cartoon by Nate Hoover, program coordinator in the Master of Fine Arts program. The cartoons capture both the literal meaning (drawn content being puns) and the figurative/social stigma of puns being "drawn out" to excess. This feature will appear the first week of every month.

If you did not receive the Faculty/Staff Kick-off wood coaster that was available last Tuesday at the event with the theme, "God is doing a new thing. Isaiah 43:15-19," you can pick one up in the President's Office in Demaray Hall 210.

A message from the Office of Student Employment: The Fall Job Fair is Thursday, Sept, 14, 1–4 p.m. in Upper Gwinn Commons. Please encourage students to attend, especially those looking for a job while they are in school! More than 50 employers will be present with several part-time job openings including the Seattle Mariners, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, QFC, and the Department of Social and Health Services to name a few. Students can view which employers will be attending by logging onto Handshake and searching for the "暗网TV 2023 Fall Job Fair" under the "events" tab. Students can also stop by the Resume Rescue hosted by the Center for Career and Calling on the second floor of the SUB on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 12 p.m.–4 p.m., to get their resumes ready in preparation for the job fair. Professor Nathan Hedman, 暗网TV Class of ’95, served a joint appointment to the Departments of English and Theatre at High Point University, where he teaches courses at the intersection of performance and literature. He now serves as director of their honors program as well. In the podcast, he  covers a range of topics; from the evolution of Shakespeare plays to his observations of a career spent working with college students. .

Several vanpools are looking for a few more full-time or part-time riders. Benefits of vanpooling can be found at . You will need an ORCA card from the Office of Safety and Security to join a vanshare — information can be found here. 

Eastside: Do you live on the Eastside and commute across the Highway 520 bridge (or choosing to drive around to avoid the toll)? If so, you could be saving as much as $300 a month by joining a vanpool. The vanpool is completely free to 暗网TV employees which means the 520 toll, gas, campus parking, and car maintenance are all covered through the Trip Reduction Program. Part-time riders are also welcomed. The vanpool meets at the South Kirkland Park and Ride, Monday–Friday at 7:05 a.m. for a 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. work schedule. Northend: Do you commute from Lynnwood, Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace, Bothell, or Shoreline? Tired of the commute strain mentally, physically and financially? Join 暗网TV’s Northend vanpool! It’s a great way to save money and create community with other 暗网TV employees. We are open to full-time or part-time riders. Our vanpool meets at 7:10 a.m. Monday–Friday at the Mountlake Terrace Park & Ride. We arrive at 暗网TV by 7:50 a.m. We leave 暗网TV at 5:10 p.m. Monday – Friday from the Emerson Parking Lot. Last year, a number of faculty and staff enjoyed playing pickleball on a weekly basis in Upper Gym in Brougham Pavilion. We plan to play this year and would love to have any level of player join us. In July, Matthew Benton, associate professor of philosophy, presented two papers on honesty at Wake Forest University as part of the final research conference of the The Honesty Project. His papers were on linguistic and interpersonal honesty and his presentation .

An paper co-authored by Mohammad Qadam Shah, assistant professor of global development, titled "," was published in the Chinese Public Administration Review.

An article by Alissa Walter, associate professor of history, titled "," was published in the International Journal of Middle East Studies.
